The author’s dream is for her books to be used to help create a better world for all children. She hopes children around the world will have the chance to enjoy her books, interact with their parents and caregivers to create their own scenarios to match her unique photographs of the wild cottontails and help to nurture a kind, positive relationship with nature. She has chosen from her hundreds of photographs the ones, that will make children smile while exciting their curiosity of “What is Bunny doing?” She hopes that introducing children at a very early age to the mutual kindness depicted in her stories will help them grow up to be happy tolerant adults. Her love of nature and photography has melded into a mission to educate us all on how to do the same.
Marylin Mansdorf had spent years enjoying photographing nature. Her uncanny communication with animals began in childhood and has continued to unfold earning her the title of the Bunny Whisperer!
Mansdorf’s formal career as a candid photographer began in earnest in 2004 when a wild baby cottontail rabbit came into her garden. She named him “Busy Bunny” and a unique, delightful relationship began. Just the fact that the cottontail managed to make the dangerous trek out of the protective brush of the wildlife preserve that borders the author’s home without being attacked by a hawk or a coyote is a feat in itself.
Mansdorf ‘s innate connection with wildlife has somehow allowed her to put the cottontails at ease and achieve the amazing photographs in her books. She has built a lifelong relationship with Busy Bunny and his friends. They frequent her home and garden to explore, interact and play with the toys she has put out for them. Wild cottontails normally scamper back to the brush at the first sign of a person or the slightest sound. Our author actually has them eating rose petals out of her hand…..
She has managed to capture on film the ultimate example of human’s living in harmony with nature.
